Intro to Linguistics

I have been realizing lately that there are certain words that draw out instant reactions from me that cause me to perk up and listen more attentively when they are used. Some are words that draw positive and others draw negative reactions. Here are a list of both. And yes, for all of you psychobabelists out there please feel free to analyze this.

Words I like:

Grace
Sanctuary
L'chaim
Macchiato
Alternative
New
Journey
Engaging
Converse
Community
Stinketh

Words I Don't Like:

Tithe
Calling
Path
Stale
Stagnant
Anoint
Manipulate
Alter
Altar
Ye
Saith
Thus
Revival
Blessing

I am sure that there are more, but that is the list for now. I am interested to see if any of these words illicit any feelings or reactions in others as well.

So do you think the following would incite some sort of brain melt down? "Thus saith me, that though I had been walking a stagnant path, my journey has taken a new and engaging path to a community that does not stinketh." :) love ya, col

Hehe, did I ever tell you I went to a Church in RI while at Zion, a little store front church that could hold no more than 30 people tops. Well, the name of that Church was,

"Sanctuary of God on Mount Zion of Jesus Christ Ministries".

The guy from Zion who was from Africa, and pretty much Pastoring it while I was there, use to always say, "We are 'Sanctuary of God'". Crazy stuff...

Was trying to think of words I both like and don't like to try and start and intellectual response to your post but none are coming. I'd say off your Don't Like list I'd agree strongly with these:

Tithe. Revival. Anoint.

Mostly because you know how I feel about "Tithe" (which is a post I'm much enjoying getting too probably after I 'get out' the bell I ate earlier).

Revival largely because it's a hype word. And yes, you know how I feel about "hype" (it's only needed when the Spirit of God doesn't exist). I don't pray for revival I pray for unity which causes people returning to God. (See Is 58 chapter on True Fasting - oh oh I hate "fasting" - and pretty much the rest of the Bible - oh another I hate depending on who says it but this is a phrase "The Bible Says" followed by an out of context Scripture.).

Lastly, Anoint, although it's "Anointed" that really gets my goose. It's over use and applying it to manipulative people who seem spiritual. Whenever someone hears one of my songs and says, "That's anointed" or hears me play and says, "You are anointed". I kind of want to reply with "EF.U." and walk away. I'm glad God used it to touch them but come on, tell me a story about why it touched you. I want interaction not Christianese Praise. I can sum it up with the lyrics to a song to be on the upcoming UG album (shameless plug)
titled, "The Last Day". Here they are. Note: Chorus omitted for the flow of the lyrics.

I'm not a preacher
'cause I don't want your money
I don't even care
if you ever find me funny.
I don't need your praise
'cause I'm not your disciple
I don't want credentials
and other things that stifle.

Not a song leader
'Cause I don't like the music
Couldn't care less
if you clap or dance to it.
Can't get people saved
I'm not the Holy Spirit
Use to be religious
but now I won't go near it.

Won't be famous
but I don't mind a bit
Most won't listen
But I will never quit
(alter: But I don't give a sshhh)
I won't serve a God
that can't set me free
Politically correct
I refuse to be.
